PORT PHILLIP BAY 1 & II
Woodcut Print
Port Phillip Bay 1 and 2 are both woodcut prints. The process is exactly the same as a linocut. Instead of the linocut the plate is carved out of wood. The plates are so hard, looking back on it I cannot believe I carved both plates to get these images. The results are different then a linocut, they are more textured and have wood marks here and there. The pattern of the wood can be seen which gives the print a raw image. They are approxamately 60cm x 60cm framed. Before framing they are hand painted with water based archival inks.

Port Phillip Bay 1 & II in situ
The print is first carved out of the wood, sealed with shellac and printed on a large printing press. After the ink has cured the prints are individually colored with Art Spectrum archival inks.
