I went to the NGV this week to see the amazing printmaker Brent Harris. Whilst shopping in the book shop I found the book I have been wanting for so long on George Baldessin. I bought the book for $66.00 and went home a happy woman. Imagine my surprise to get home and find out the binding on the book was not fixed. The entire book fell apart on reading....and not one single page remained in the binding. I wrote an email to the Australian Galleries , the publishers of the book, and told them what had happened.
Within three days I had received another book which I was most grateful for. However, this book has fallen apart on first read as well. I was devestated and disappointed all over again. I wander , if anyone has ever recieved a good copy of this book? Are there any good copies circulating of this book, or are all of them dodgy. I sent another email to the Australian Galleries to tell them that this copy has also fallen apart. I hope they respond.
I will never buy another book published by the Australian Galleries because I do not understand how they could sell books of this quality to the visitors of their gallery.
I will keep you posted on the progress of me aquiring a book by George Baldessin that isn't falling apart.
In between teaching printmaking, I work in an art shop. I am also currently studying for my BA in Fine Art and Visual Culture. Time is precious and in between entering shows and looking after a family, I find my Blogging isn't regular. If you do happen to stop by than please make a comment. I would love to hear from you. I enjoy helping people with their printmaking endevours. Look for me on Facebook. Peninsula Printmakers Group and Australian Printmakers Group. All are welcome to join.
Thanks for stopping by!
