It is a real challenge to do this etching and aquatinting at home. With great frustration we did not seem to get the ferric to bite deep enough. Three times in the bath and still nothing happened. Than it occured to me that we were not cleaning the plate entirely after printing. Perhaps this was effecting the plate. Plus we were not using etching paper. We had to catch our tactics, and after hours of working we had little time left. So this time I cleaned the plate very thouroughly and did another bite.
We still have a ways to go, but I think we are getting there. Things can only get better from here onwards. We will try another bite next week and do another print on Monday. Meanwhile here is the print from this second edtion and I have done a little hand painting.
In between teaching printmaking, I work in an art shop. I am also currently studying for my BA in Fine Art and Visual Culture. Time is precious and in between entering shows and looking after a family, I find my Blogging isn't regular. If you do happen to stop by than please make a comment. I would love to hear from you. I enjoy helping people with their printmaking endevours. Look for me on Facebook. Peninsula Printmakers Group and Australian Printmakers Group. All are welcome to join.
